Job Description

Estate in Potomac, Maryland and Maine is seeking a Butler to join their team of Private Service Professionals to serve an active family of four with pets. The position is live-out, full-time (Sun-Thurs) for most of the year in Maryland with summer season in Maine. The position is salary exempt, with full benefits package and 401K plan offered. Salary is dependent upon skill level and experience. Flexibility to travel is necessary. To be filled as soon as possible.

Responsibilities & Duties

Travel with family to other residences as needed (up to 3-4 months per year)
Oversee Houseman on properties
Assist with housekeeping and laundry
Maintain and inventory all silverware, china, crystal, cutlery
Primary Coordinator and Server for family holiday dinners, guest dinners, and other events
Assist with culinary prep as needed and liaison with chefs
Assist with AV and IT
Manage pet care (training/health/schedule/care/travel papers)
Personal valet to gentleman (wardrobe, sporting equipment,etc.)
Manage primary wine cellar
Manage family prescriptions
Answer residence phone and front door
Oversee guest visits to include accommodations, reception and concierge services
Assist with driving
Assist with children as needed
Comply with estate security protocol and tasks
Assist House Manager with other projects as directed

Job Requirements

Qualification ~ Skills ~ Traits

Bachelor’s degree or certificate program from hotel/culinary school preferred
3+ years of experience as a butler or under-butler
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - fluent in English
Broad knowledge of household furnishings and their care
Professional and experienced service of meals
Broad knowledge of wine, liqueurs, mixology
Broad knowledge of laundering and cleaning techniques
History of Independent and team project management
Leadership and motivation skills
Technology proficient including all modern computer devices (PC/Mac) and strong Microsoft Office Skills
Excellent social skills, confidence and emotional reserve
Utmost confidentiality and professional discretion
Problem solving, hands-on, and “get it done” attitude
Resourceful - quickly learns the how and where to get things done in the local area
Flexible – willing and able to work weekends and holiday per schedule
Animal lover
Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
Safe driving record with clean history
Valid US passport
Physically fit and able to lift 50 pounds
Must pass background check and drug test
