Job Description

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Domestic Couple for a semi-formal estate property located in Muskoka. The successful applicants will be responsible for the overall management and day to day operation of the residence, working effectively alongside the estate’s principal, estate staff, contractors, vendors, and other service providers.

Applicants should demonstrate exceptional professionalism, integrity, and excellent communication skills to uphold the ‘five-star luxury hotel’ standard of the estate.

This position is live-in and full-time. Applicants should be flexible with schedules in conjunction with peak-seasonal use of the property.

Job Requirements

Property Management - Primary Responsibilities:

• Proactively manage all aspects of the estate including property maintenance, renovations, and special projects
• Management and supervision of vendors and trades for regular maintenance, seasonal maintenance and other special projects
• Coordinate and execute all arrangements for special events, including additional service requirements, staffing, catering, and other services
• Manage budgets for both day-to-day estate operations and special projects, including monthly reporting
• Management and monitoring of household mechanical systems as well as household inventories
• Maintain security measures and protocols, ensuring that the estate is secure at all times and that staff follow necessary procedures
• Hire, manage, develop and train staff for full-time and seasonal positions
• Administer and approve purchase orders, invoices and time sheets, charge accounts and expenses, and other reports and documentation
• Manage all estate HR functions, including policies and standards for staff (dress code, grooming standards etc.)
• Management of fleet (automobiles and boats)

Applicant Qualities:
• A minimum of 5 years of previous experience working in a semi-formal residence in a management position
• Experience managing a team of staff
• Excellent property management skills and knowledge, with established resources in the local area
• Exceptional front of house service and customer service skills
• Able to take challenging situations in stride and remain professional and calm
• Exceptional attention to detail follow and through on all projects assigned
• Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office suite
• Well groomed, polished, with a professional presentation
• Must possess excellent time management skills; be punctual and courteous
• Applicants should be energetic and able to anticipate the needs of principals
• Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respect of boundaries
• Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license (class G) with a clean driving record
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Executive Housekeeping - Primary Responsibilities:

• Management and supervision of housekeeping staff, including maintain standards, scheduling, approving time sheets, and procuring temporary staff as required
• Perform daily housekeeping duties to the estate standards
• Schedule and execute weekly, monthly and annual deep clean projects
• Special projects include, but not limited to, quarterly deep cleans, household cupboard and closet cleaning and reorganization
• Provide support for all special events conducted on the estate
• Maintain all exterior ‘living areas’ such as patios, decks, walk-ways etc.
• Prepare guestrooms in advance of arrival, anticipating potential needs, and fulfilling guest requests in a timely manner
• Maintain inventories of all cleaning products, paper products, amenities etc. and ensure they are fully stocked at all times
• Care of fine items such as artwork, decorative items, and other delicate items
• Care of wardrobe items, ensuring that care is taken for special items

Applicant Qualities:

• Must have previous experience working in a semi-formal residence, managing a team
• Excellent housekeeping, laundry and ironing skills; correct use of products and methods for fine finishes and surfaces
• Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess exceptional attention to detail and follow through on all projects and tasks
• Applicants should be energetic and able to anticipate the needs of principals
• Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercise diplomacy, discretion and respect of boundaries
• Applicants must be service-oriented with excellent English communication skills
• A valid driver’s license is considered a strong asset
