Job Description

Immediate need for a detail-oriented individual to join a team as a Full-Time Private Chef/Family Assistant, with the primary responsibilities revolving around cooking for a teenager (enrolled at university in California for fall 2018) with a very long list of food allergies, due to two autoimmune diseases. The teenager is an athlete who travels frequently and requires specially prepared food to meet his dietary needs, at all times. This is a very unique position, which includes a wide variety of tasks and evolving mix of responsibilities based on the skillset of the individual stepping into the role. The food preparation is performed outside of the family's residence, in a facility specifically dedicated to cooking for the teenager. Culinary experience is not required, but ease and comfort in the kitchen, along with good cooking skills is essential. While this job is heavily cooking focused, many of the tasks are more personal assistant in nature and someone with a caregiver personality would fit well in this position. Currently, the position will be 45+ hours per week. The individual must be available and willing to work some weekends as well as travel as needed (with advanced notice). Seven day a week assistance is required and coverage is typically split across the staff members. This means the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and occasional holidays is required. The teenager travels to tournaments, which typically last several days, but there will also be opportunities for week long trips. Shifts when not traveling are varied, often earlier morning hours and/or evening work best to cover timing of meals for the client. Family provides vehicle for staff to drive while running errands for position. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate.
