Job Description

Family with seven year old boy and nine year old girl living in the Upper East Side of New York City is seeking a professional, experienced, creative and detail oriented full-time private chef to prepare healthy meals. When the family is at main residence in NYC, the schedule is on Monday - Thursday or Friday at 11:00am - 9:00pm. The chef is required to spend the summer in the Hamptons with family, which will be a much heavier work schedule. Living will be provided to the chef during the summer months in the Hamptons. Flexibility with scheduling is highly important for the position. Chef is responsible for preparing three or four meals per day (e.g., Staff lunch, dinner for children at 4:00pm, dinner for principals at 6:00/7:00pm and staff dinner). Candidate should be experienced and comfortable working collaboratively in fully staffed residences (e.g., house manager, housekeepers, personal assistant, nannies, driver, etc.). Ideal candidate has a culinary certificate or degree, bachelor’s degree, 2-5+ years of consistent and recent domestic experience as a full-time private chef, experienced with clean diet and cuisine, understands the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentially agreement is required), discreet and calm demeanor, comfortable working with children and dog, assertive, positive, proactive, organized and detail oriented, service focused, kind, respectful, longevity (e.g., seeking a 2-5+ year commitment), willing to travel domestically, flexible schedule and open to working additional hours. Start date is highly flexible for the right candidate.

• Creativity in preparing healthy meals and spa cuisine (organic food required)

• Keeping up-to-date on the latest culinary trends and fads

• Experienced with planning menus for principals, children, staff and events

• Capable of creating lists and ordering or shopping for fresh foods

• Professional presence and experience in food presentation and table setting is mandatory

• Responsible for white glove serving of meals to principals

• Responsible for all food preparation and kitchen related duties along with grocery shopping

• High standards of health and hygiene with food

• Properly storing ingredients and leftovers

• Responsible for coordinating cooking and serving times with principals, children and staff

• Responsible for cleaning and tidying kitchen after each use

• Maintaining all kitchen equipment

• Interactions with extended family and business associates for holiday meals, business lunches and events at the residence

• Responsible for larger dinner parties and scheduling professional staff to assist with meal prep, serving, etc. (Parties over 20 guests will be catered)

• Providing hospitality and service to visitors, guests and staff (including formal service when hosting private events)

• Experienced working with children and willing to prepare meals for children that encourage them to try new foods

• Ensure pantry, refrigerator and wine cellar are properly stocked in accordance with the family's travel and entertaining schedules


• Ability to travel domestically occasionally (the Hamptons for summer months is required)

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused
